Here's the simple version: chamomile, especially in tea or concentrated supplement form, can have a mild calming, drowsy effect. Felbamate already works on your brain to quiet down seizure activity, and it can cause some sleepiness or fatigue on its own. Put the two together and that drowsy feeling may add up, leaving you more tired, foggy, or less alert than usual.

Now, the honest part: this concern is theoretical and based only on lab and animal data, not real-world reports, so it isn't a major red flag. A cup of chamomile tea now and then is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, since felbamate is a serious seizure medicine, check with your pharmacist or doctor before using chamomile regularly, and avoid driving if you feel extra sleepy.

About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
