IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Adalimumab-Atto
Adalimumab-Atto falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Glyconutrients interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Amjevita (adalimumab-atto) is a biologic that calms an overactive immune system by blocking a signaling protein called TNF. It's used for things like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease. The whole point of the medicine is to quiet immune activity, so anything that revs the immune system back up could, in theory, work against it.
Here's the concern with glyconutrients: in lab dishes, these sugar molecules seem to stimulate certain immune responses. So the worry is they might push back against what Amjevita is trying to do, possibly making your symptoms a little harder to control. To be clear, this is only a theoretical idea from test-tube research, not proven in people. Still, since these supplements offer little real benefit, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Adalimumab-Atto page
“Echinacea is the one I would check for first, since so many people reach for it at the first sniffle of a cold. Adalimumab-Atto (Amjevita) treats conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease by quieting an overactive immune system, and echinacea does the opposite, revving immune activity in a way that could blun…”

About Glyconutrients
What is Glyconutrients?
- General immune support
- Overall wellness and energy
- Cognitive or memory support
- Inflammation
- Digestive health
Glyconutrients are supplements containing certain sugar molecules (monosaccharides) that marketers claim are essential for cell communication and health. The science behind most health claims is weak and largely promotional, and your body already makes these sugars from a normal diet. They are generally low-risk, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using them, and don't rely on them to treat any disease.
