Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), corticosteroids (glucocorticoids), and others.

Here's the thinking behind this one. Emapalumab (Gamifant) is an antibody that works by calming down an overactive immune system in people with HLH. Glyconutrients, on the other hand, are marketed as supplements that may stimulate immune activity. In a test tube, that's the opposite of what your medicine is trying to do, so the worry is that the supplement could theoretically work against the calming effect of your treatment.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's purely theoretical, based on lab studies, not on real patients taking the two together. Still, HLH is a serious condition and Gamifant is a high-stakes therapy, so I wouldn't add any immune-stimulating supplement without first checking with your doctor or pharmacist.

What Is Emapalumab-lzsg Injection Used For?

Brand name: Gamifant

Gamifant is used to treat primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) — a rare, life-threatening condition where the immune system becomes dangerously overactivated — in adults and children whose disease has not responded to, has come back during, or has progressed on standard HLH therapy, or who cannot tolerate it.

Gamifant is also used for HLH/macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in adults and children with known or suspected Still's disease, including systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA), when glucocorticoids (steroid medicines) have not worked well enough, cannot be tolerated, or when MAS keeps coming back.
