Here's the concern with these two together: both can drain your body's potassium. Bisacodyl (Dulcolax) is a stimulant laxative, and when it gets your bowels moving hard, you can lose fluids and minerals (including potassium) through your stool. Gossypol has its own potassium-lowering effect, so stacking them could push your potassium lower than either one alone.

Low potassium can leave you feeling weak, crampy, tired, or give you an irregular heartbeat. I'll be honest with you though: this warning is theoretical, based on how these substances behave, not on real-world reports of the two combined. On top of that, gossypol isn't a safe over-the-counter supplement and shouldn't be self-used at all. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything like this.

Gossypol is a toxic yellow pigment from cotton plants that has been studied mainly as an experimental male contraceptive because it can lower sperm production. It is not an approved or safe over-the-counter supplement, and it carries serious risks including possibly permanent infertility, low potassium, and organ toxicity. It should not be used for self-treatment.

About Bisacodyl

What Is Bisacodyl Used For?

Brand names: Dulcolax, Gentlax

Bisacodyl is used for the temporary relief of occasional constipation and irregularity. Oral tablets (including Dulcolax Stimulant Laxative and Fleet tablets) generally produce a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours.

Rectal suppositories (such as Dulcolax Laxative, Conlax, Avedana Gentle Laxative, and others) typically work within 15 minutes to 1 hour. The Fleet Enema (rectal) is also used for relief of fecal impaction (a severe blockage of stool) and for removal of residue after barium administration (a procedure used in certain imaging tests), and usually works within 5 to 20 minutes.
