Sennosides (OTC drug) falls under STIMULANT LAXATIVES — the group Gossypol interacts with.

Theoretically, gossypol might increase the risk of additive potassium depletion and hypokalemia when taken with stimulant laxatives.

Here's the concern with these two together. Senna works by stimulating your gut to move things along, and like other stimulant laxatives, it can pull some potassium out of your body, especially if you use it often or for too long. Gossypol has also been shown in studies to lower potassium. Stack them up and you could in theory drop your potassium lower than either would alone.

Low potassium can leave you feeling weak, crampy, or tired, and in serious cases it can affect your heart rhythm. To be fair, this is a theoretical caution based on how both act, not something proven from people taking them together. Still, gossypol isn't a safe self-care supplement, so please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything.

Gossypol is a toxic yellow pigment from cotton plants that has been studied mainly as an experimental male contraceptive because it can lower sperm production. It is not an approved or safe over-the-counter supplement, and it carries serious risks including possibly permanent infertility, low potassium, and organ toxicity. It should not be used for self-treatment.
