Here's the gist with Duavee, which combines conjugated estrogens with bazedoxifene. Both of these are partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest the guggulsterones in guggul may speed up that enzyme. If that happens in real life, your body could clear these hormones a little faster, which might mean weaker effects, like hot flashes creeping back or less benefit for protecting your bones.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal data, so we don't truly know how much it matters in people. Still, since you're taking Duavee for a real reason, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding concentrated guggul supplements.

Duavee combines conjugated estrogens with bazedoxifene, and one of its jobs is to manage your estrogen activity in a careful, balanced way. Here's the wrinkle with guggul: lab studies suggest its active compounds (guggulsterones) can act a little like estrogen on certain receptors. So in theory, adding guggul on top of Duavee could nudge your overall estrogen signaling higher, which might mean more estrogen-related effects like breast tenderness, bloating, or spotting.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical. It comes from test-tube research, not from real people, so we don't truly know if it matters at the doses people take. Still, since Duavee already fine-tunes your hormones, I'd run guggul past your pharmacist or doctor before starting it rather than guessing.

What Is Estrogen and Bazedoxifene Used For?

Brand name: Duavee

  • Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are used to treat hot flashes (sudden feelings of warmth, especially in the face, neck, and chest) in women who are experiencing menopause (stage of life when menstrual periods become less frequent and stop and women may experience other symptoms and body changes). Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are also used to prevent osteoporosis (condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in women who have undergone menopause. Estrogen is in a class of medications called hormones and bazedoxifene is in a class of medications called estrogen agonist–antagonists. Estrogen works by replacing estrogen that is normally produced by the body. Bazedoxifene is used to block the action of estrogen on the lining of the uterus, decreasing the risk of overgrowth that may lead to cancer.
