Crizotinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Guggul interacts with.

Theoretically, guggul might reduce the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that guggul constituents known as guggulsterones can induce CYP3A4.

Here's the concern with pairing guggul and your cancer medicine. Crizotinib is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and it works as the active drug itself (it isn't a prodrug that needs switching on). Lab studies hint that guggulsterones, the active pieces of guggul, may speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body could break down crizotinib faster, leaving less in your bloodstream and possibly making it work less well against your cancer.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and comes only from test-tube research, not from people. Still, with a cancer drug, even an uncertain dip in levels is worth avoiding. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Run guggul past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Crizotinib

What Is Crizotinib Used For?

Brand name: Xalkori

Xalkori (crizotinib) treats adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors test positive for ALK or ROS1 gene changes, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Xalkori is also used for pediatric patients (age 1 and older) and young adults with relapsed or refractory systemic ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), and for adult and pediatric patients (age 1 and older) with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Xalkori's safety and effectiveness in older adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-positive ALCL have not been established.
