CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide
Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium Bromide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Hu Zhang interacts with.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP1A2 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with Librax (chlordiazepoxide and clidinium). The resveratrol in Hu Zhang may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 in lab studies. Since the chlordiazepoxide piece is partly handled by that enzyme, the theory is that blocking it could let the medication build up a bit more than usual.
If that happened, you might feel the benzodiazepine effects more strongly, meaning extra drowsiness, dizziness, foggy thinking, or unsteadiness. I want to be honest with you though: this is only a theoretical, test-tube concern, and it has never actually been reported in people. Food amounts are unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements are a bigger question mark. Before pairing them, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.
