Desvenlafaxine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, taking iboga with serotonergic drugs might increase levels of serotonin, resulting in additive effects with serotonergic drugs.
Ibogaine, a constituent in iboga, has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with iboga might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. Monitor patients for signs of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects if using iboga with serotonergic drugs.

Here's the concern with pairing Iboga and Pristiq (desvenlafaxine). Both push serotonin levels up. Your SNRI already raises serotonin to help your mood, and ibogaine (the active compound in Iboga) nudges serotonin too. Stack them together and you can get too much of a good thing, which is what we call serotonin syndrome. Warning signs include agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching or stiffness, and in serious cases confusion or high fever.

For now this is a theoretical worry based on how each one works, not hard proof, so I don't want to alarm you. But I'd be honest: Iboga also carries real heart rhythm dangers and is illegal in the U.S. Please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Here's the concern with combining Iboga (which contains ibogaine) and desvenlafaxine (Pristiq). Both can affect your heart's electrical timing, something we call the QT interval. Ibogaine has been linked in real case reports to dangerous QT prolongation, and desvenlafaxine can nudge it slightly too. Stacked together, that effect may add up, which in rare cases can trigger a serious irregular heartbeat with symptoms like fainting, palpitations, or dizziness.

There's also a second worry: both raise serotonin activity, so combining them could push toward serotonin overload (agitation, sweating, shaking, fast heart rate). Honestly, ibogaine is illegal here and carries real risks. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything like this with your antidepressant.

What Is Desvenlafaxine Used For?

Brand names: Pristiq, Khedezla

Desvenlafaxine extended-release tablets — sold under brand names including Pristiq, Desvenlafaxine ER, Desvenlafaxine Succinate, and others — are approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults.

This medication is not approved for use in children or adolescents. Its effectiveness was studied in clinical trials of adult outpatients who met standard diagnostic criteria for MDD.
