Ondansetron falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, taking iboga with serotonergic drugs might increase levels of serotonin, resulting in additive effects with serotonergic drugs.
Ibogaine, a constituent in iboga, has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with iboga might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. Monitor patients for signs of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects if using iboga with serotonergic drugs.

Here's the gist with ondansetron (Zofran) and Iboga. Both touch the body's serotonin system, just from different angles. Ondansetron blocks one type of serotonin receptor to calm nausea, while ibogaine in Iboga nudges serotonin signaling in the brain. On paper, stacking them could add up and slightly raise the chance of too much serotonin activity, which can show up as agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shaking, or in rare cases a serious reaction called serotonin syndrome.

I want to be honest: this concern is theoretical, based on how the two work rather than real reported cases. The bigger issue is that Iboga itself is risky and illegal here, and both it and ondansetron can affect heart rhythm. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything like this.

About Ondansetron

What Is Ondansetron Used For?

Brand name: Zofran

Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting in several situations. Oral forms (tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and oral solution) are approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from highly or moderately emetogenic (nausea-causing) cancer chemotherapy, from radiation therapy to the abdomen or whole body, and from surgery.

Ondansetron injection (given intravenously or intramuscularly in a clinical setting) is approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from emetogenic cancer chemotherapy — including high-dose cisplatin — in adults and children as young as 6 months old, as well as to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting.
