Tolterodine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, iboga might decrease the effectiveness of anticholinergic drugs.
In vitro research shows that iboga can inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels. However, the constituent ibogaine does not appear to have this effect.

Here's the idea behind this one. Tolterodine calms an overactive bladder by blocking a nerve signal called acetylcholine. Some lab tests suggest Iboga might do the opposite by raising acetylcholine levels, so in theory it could work against tolterodine and make it less effective. If that happened, you might notice your old symptoms creeping back, like sudden urges to go, frequent trips to the bathroom, or leaks.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. It comes only from test-tube research, and the main Iboga compound (ibogaine) did not even show this effect. So this is more theoretical than proven. The far bigger concern is that Iboga itself is unsafe and illegal in the U.S. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything new with your bladder medicine.

Tolterodine — available as tablets (including Detrol and Tolterodine Tartrate tablets) and extended-release capsules (including Detrol LA and Tolterodine Tartrate extended-release capsules) — is prescribed for overactive bladder. It targets three main symptoms: a sudden, hard-to-control urge to urinate (urgency), urinating too often (frequency), and leaking urine when that urge hits (urge urinary incontinence).

All approved forms and brands share this same indication. No additional or separate uses are listed in the prescribing information for any individual product.
