ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Streptokinase
Streptokinase falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Indian Long Pepper interacts with.
In vitro research shows that Indian long pepper extract inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Streptokinase is a powerful clot-busting medicine given in the hospital, usually for things like a heart attack or a serious blood clot. It works by breaking down clots that have already formed, so it naturally raises your risk of bleeding while it is active. Indian long pepper, through its piperine and related compounds, has shown in lab (test tube) studies that it can make platelets less likely to clump together. In plain terms, both of these can nudge you toward easier bleeding.
So in theory, combining them could add up to a higher bleeding risk. But keep this in perspective: this concern comes only from in vitro research, not real-world human studies, and streptokinase is given under close medical supervision. A pinch of this spice in food is very unlikely to matter. If you regularly take concentrated long pepper supplements, just let your care team know so they can watch you safely.
