ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Levamlodipine
Levamlodipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Japanese Persimmon interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: levamlodipine (Conjupri) is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. Japanese persimmon, especially in concentrated supplement or leaf-extract form, may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. Put the two together and they can add up, nudging your pressure lower than you intended.
If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or a little wobbly when you stand up quickly. The good news is this is mostly a theoretical concern, and simply enjoying persimmon as a fruit in normal food amounts is unlikely to cause trouble. It's the strong supplements and extracts to watch. If you're using those, check with your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.
