Preliminary evidence shows that constituents of Job's tears might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs that decrease blood glucose levels might increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), glipizide (Glucotrol), tolbutamide (Orinase), and others.

Here's the gist with Job's Tears and your insulin (NovoRapid). Insulin's whole job is to lower your blood sugar. Some early lab research hints that Job's Tears may nudge blood sugar down a little too. So if you stack the two, the concern is that your sugar could dip lower than expected, which is what we call hypoglycemia.

Symptoms to watch for would be shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, dizziness, confusion, or feeling suddenly very hungry. To be clear, this interaction is mostly theoretical and based on preliminary data, not strong human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you start a concentrated Job's Tears supplement, it's smart to check your sugar a bit more often and let your pharmacist or doctor know.
