Fluconazole falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Khella interacts with.

Theoretically, khella might have additive adverse effects on the liver when used with hepatotoxic drugs. Khella can increase liver transaminases. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), and many others.

Here's the concern with combining khella and fluconazole: both can be tough on your liver. Fluconazole, like many antifungals, is already known to sometimes raise liver enzymes. Khella has been shown to bump up those same liver markers (called transaminases). When you stack two things that each stress the liver, the worry is an additive effect, meaning a bit more strain than either alone.

To be fair, this is largely theoretical and the supplement evidence is limited, so it's not a sure thing. Still, watch for signs like unusual tiredness, belly pain on your right side, dark urine, or yellowing of your skin or eyes. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before pairing these, especially if your fluconazole course is long or your liver health is already a question mark.

About Fluconazole

What Is Fluconazole Used For?

Brand names: Diflucan, Diflucan Injection

Fluconazole treats infections caused by Candida and Cryptococcus fungi. Diflucan tablets and oral fluconazole tablets and suspension are approved to treat vaginal yeast infections (vaginal candidiasis), thrush in the mouth or throat (oropharyngeal candidiasis), and yeast infections of the esophagus. All forms — tablets, oral suspension, and injection — are used for cryptococcal meningitis (a serious fungal brain infection). In smaller studies, fluconazole has also shown effectiveness against Candida urinary tract infections, peritonitis (infection in the abdomen), and serious systemic (bloodstream and organ) Candida infections.

Fluconazole is also used to prevent candidiasis in people undergoing bone marrow transplants who receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Note that vaginal candidiasis is an approved use for the tablets and Diflucan oral products, but not for the injection or oral suspension alone.
