Rivaroxaban falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Krill Oil interacts with.

Theoretically, krill oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Taking high doses of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil can modestly decrease platelet aggregation. Since krill oil also contains these fatty acids, taking high doses of krill oil might also inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, taking high doses of krill oil with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bleeding. However, the omega-3 content of krill oil is much lower than that of fish oil.

Here's the gist: Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) is already a blood thinner that lowers your blood's ability to clot. Krill oil supplies omega-3 fats (EPA and DHA) that, at higher doses, can make your platelets a little less sticky. Put the two together and you could, in theory, tip the scales slightly toward more bleeding. That might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop.

I want to be honest about how strong this is. It's a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not proven harm, and krill oil carries far less omega-3 than regular fish oil. Still, since rivaroxaban is a serious medication, please run any krill oil plans past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Krill oil is a source of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) bound to phospholipids, which may help absorption. It is most studied for lowering triglycerides and supporting heart health, but the evidence for many other uses is limited. It is generally well tolerated, but people with shellfish allergy should avoid it, and anyone pregnant, breastfeeding, or on blood thinners should check with a pharmacist or doctor first.

About Rivaroxaban

What Is Rivaroxaban Used For?

Brand name: Xarelto

Rivaroxaban tablets are used to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm), treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT, a blood clot in a vein) and pulmonary embolism (PE, a blood clot in the lungs), and lower the chances of these clots coming back. They also help prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery, protect hospitalized patients at risk for clots, and — in combination with aspirin — reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Rivaroxaban tablets are also approved for treating VTE (venous thromboembolism, blood clots in veins) and preventing recurrence in pediatric patients from birth to under 18 years, and for preventing clots in children aged 2 and older with congenital heart disease after the Fontan procedure. Rivaroxaban for oral suspension (available as Rivaroxaban Granule and Xarelto oral suspension) is specifically indicated for these two pediatric uses.
