Here's the thing to know about bosentan (Tracleer): it can be tough on the liver all by itself. That's why your doctor checks your liver enzymes with regular blood tests while you're on it. Kudzu hasn't been proven to harm the liver, but there's some concern it might, so the worry here is simply doubling up on two things that could stress the same organ.

To be clear, this is a theoretical caution based on how each one works, not something seen happening in real patients. Still, since bosentan already requires liver monitoring, I'd keep it simple and skip kudzu unless your doctor or pharmacist says it's fine. If you ever notice yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, call your doctor right away.

Kudzu is a fast-growing vine whose root has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine and is now studied mostly for reducing alcohol intake. Early research is promising for cutting back on drinking, but evidence for most other uses is weak. What Is Bosentan Used For?

Brand name: Tracleer

Bosentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. In adults, it helps improve the ability to exercise and slows how quickly the disease gets worse.

In children aged 3 years and older with idiopathic (no known cause) or congenital (present from birth) PAH, bosentan is used to lower resistance in the lung blood vessels, which is expected to improve exercise ability. Tracleer is one brand approved for both adults and pediatric patients with PAH.
