Metaglip combines two diabetes medicines: glipizide, which prompts your body to release more insulin, and metformin, which lowers blood sugar in other ways. Some early research hints that L-arginine may nudge blood sugar down a little on its own. So taken together, the worry is a small additive effect, meaning your numbers could dip lower than expected.

If your blood sugar drops too low (especially from the glipizide piece), you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, confused, or unusually hungry. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how these work, not a strong, proven interaction. Still, if you decide to try L-arginine, let your pharmacist or doctor know and keep an eye on your readings so they can guide any adjustments.
