Treprostinil (Inh) falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group L-citrulline interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of L-citrulline with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the chance of hypotension.
L-citrulline is converted to L-arginine, which can increase nitric oxide and cause vasodilation. However, a meta-analysis of 5 small clinical studies suggests that taking L-citrulline 3-6 grams daily for 1-8 weeks does not lower blood pressure when compared with control.

Here's the simple version. Inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso) works by relaxing and opening up blood vessels, which helps ease the strain in your lungs. L-citrulline nudges your body toward more nitric oxide, which also relaxes blood vessels. Put them together and, in theory, the blood-vessel-widening effect could stack up a bit, which might lower your blood pressure more than expected.

Now, the honest part: this is mostly a theoretical concern. A review of several small studies found that L-citrulline didn't really move blood pressure much on its own. Still, if you notice more dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, or headache after standing, that's worth mentioning. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding L-citrulline, since your PAH treatment is carefully balanced.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
