L-tryptophan + Risperidone
Risperidone brand names: Risperdal, Perseris.
L-tryptophan has a moderate interaction with Risperidone. Theoretically, combining L-tryptophan with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Risperidone
Risperidone falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group L-tryptophan interacts with.
L-tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with L-tryptophan might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thinking behind pairing these two. Your body turns L-tryptophan into serotonin, and risperidone also nudges your serotonin system as part of how it works. Stack them together and, in theory, you could end up with a little too much serotonin activity at once.
Honestly, this one is mostly on paper. It's flagged as theoretical based on how the chemistry works, not from strong real-world reports, so I don't want you to panic. Still, it's worth knowing the signs of too much serotonin: agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or feeling confused. If you ever feel those, get help right away. Before you start a tryptophan supplement alongside risperidone, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

“Someone taking risperidone (Risperdal, Perseris) for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder depends on a steady blood level to stay well, and this list calls for genuine care, starting with its eleven major-rated entries.
