HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Nitrofurantoin
Nitrofurantoin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Ligandrol interacts with.
In case reports, patients were diagnosed with liver injury thought to be related to the use of products containing ligandrol.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: this isn't about one drug speeding up or blocking the other. It's about stacking up risk to the same organ. Nitrofurantoin can, in rare cases, stress or injure the liver, and Ligandrol (a SARM that isn't an approved supplement) has been tied to liver injury in real-world case reports. Put them together and you may be adding one liver strain on top of another.
I'll be honest, the evidence here is thin and mostly anecdotal, so this isn't a guaranteed problem. Still, watch for warning signs like yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, belly pain, nausea, or unusual tiredness. Frankly, Ligandrol carries real risks on its own. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nitrofurantoin page
“Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid, Macrodantin) treats urinary tract infections and can strain the liver on its own, which is why this interaction list deserves genuine care rather than a glance. Of the 82 ingredients on file, 38 can add their own liver stress on top of the drug's, and three of the four major-rated entries fall in that group, i…”

About Ligandrol
What is Ligandrol?
- Muscle building
- Athletic performance and strength
- Body recomposition
- Bodybuilding cycles
Ligandrol (LGD-4033) is a synthetic selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), not a natural herb or approved dietary supplement. It is not approved for human use, is banned in sports, and has been linked to liver injury and hormonal disruption, so it should not be taken as a supplement.
About Nitrofurantoin
What Is Nitrofurantoin Used For?
Brand names: Macrodantin, Furadantin, Furatoin, Macrobid
Nitrofurantoin is used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by certain susceptible bacteria. The capsule forms (including Macrodantin) are indicated for UTIs due to susceptible strains of Escherichia coli, enterococci, Staphylococcus aureus, and certain strains of Klebsiella and Enterobacter species. Nitrofurantoin oral suspension (Furadantin) is indicated for adults and children 1 month of age and older for the same types of UTIs.
Nitrofurantoin is not used for kidney infections (pyelonephritis) or infections of the tissue around the kidney (perinephric abscesses). Because it works primarily in the urine and does not spread widely through body tissues, it may not fully clear the infection in some patients, and the UTI may return after treatment.
