Bacampicillin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Limosilactobacillus Reuteri interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Limosilactobacillus reuteri with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. reuteri.
L. reuteri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. reuteri preparations by at least two hours.

Here's the simple version: Bacampicillin is an antibiotic (it's actually a prodrug that your body converts into ampicillin), and its whole job is to kill bacteria. The catch is that L. reuteri is a live bacterium. So if you swallow your probiotic at the same time as your antibiotic, the medicine can wipe out a good chunk of those probiotic organisms before they ever do their work.

This doesn't make the bacampicillin dangerous or less effective at treating your infection. The only thing that suffers is the probiotic. An easy fix is to space them out by at least two hours. This is a theoretical, common-sense interaction, but separating the timing is a smart habit. Check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.

Limosilactobacillus reuteri (formerly Lactobacillus reuteri) is a probiotic bacterium found in the human gut and certain fermented foods.
