Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Ticarcillin , Clavulanate
Ticarcillin , Clavulanate falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Limosilactobacillus Reuteri interacts with.
L. reuteri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. reuteri preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to keep in mind: Ticarcillin and clavulanate (Timentin) is an antibiotic, and it doesn't really matter to it whether you're also taking a probiotic. The concern actually runs the other way around. Your L. reuteri supplement is made of live bacteria, and a broad antibiotic like this one can kill off a good chunk of those friendly organisms if you swallow them at the same time. That just means your probiotic may not do much for you.
This is a theoretical interaction based on how antibiotics work, not something proven to cause harm. An easy fix is to space them out by at least two hours. Timentin is usually given in the hospital, so your nurse or pharmacist can help you time things if you're using both.

“Anyone receiving ticarcillin and clavulanate (Timentin) should treat this list with real care, and the place to start is the kidneys. The two major-rated entries, Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca, can each damage kidney function on their own, and stacking that harm on top of a kidney-stressing situation is the risk I would rule out be…”
