Diroximel Fumarate falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Mace interacts with.

Animal research suggests that mace lignans can suppress immune function. Theoretically, concomitant use might enhance the effects of immunosuppressant drugs. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the gist with Vumerity (diroximel fumarate) and mace. Vumerity already calms down parts of your immune system to help with MS. The concern on file is that mace might quiet immune activity too, based only on animal lab studies looking at compounds in mace called lignans. So in theory, stacking the two could add up and lean your immune system a bit too low.

If that happened, you might be more prone to infections, on top of Vumerity's usual issues like flushing and stomach upset. Honestly, the evidence here is thin and theoretical, and a sprinkle of mace in cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated mace supplements are a different story. Before adding any, just run it by your pharmacist or neurologist.

Mace is the lacy red covering of the nutmeg seed and comes from the same tree as nutmeg.
