Ixekizumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Mace interacts with.

Animal research suggests that mace lignans can suppress immune function. Theoretically, concomitant use might enhance the effects of immunosuppressant drugs. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the gist with Taltz (ixekizumab): it's an injected biologic that calms part of your immune system to clear psoriasis and ease joint inflammation. The concern on file is that compounds in mace might also dampen immune activity, so stacking the two could, in theory, push your immune defenses a bit lower than intended. The practical worry there is a higher chance of catching infections, things like colds, sinus issues, or other bugs that Taltz users are already told to watch for.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from animal lab studies, not people, so it's a theoretical caution. Sprinkling mace on your food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated mace supplements are the real question mark, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting one.

Mace is the lacy red covering of the nutmeg seed and comes from the same tree as nutmeg. It is mostly used as a cooking spice and in traditional medicine for digestion, but there is little solid human research to support its health uses. In normal food amounts it is generally safe, but large doses can be toxic, so use it as a spice and check with your pharmacist before taking concentrated supplements.

What Is Ixekizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Taltz

Taltz (ixekizumab) injection is used to treat several immune-driven conditions. In patients aged 6 and older, Taltz treats moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis when the condition is serious enough to need systemic treatment or light therapy. In adults, Taltz also treats active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis (a type of inflammatory spinal arthritis), and active non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (inflammatory spinal disease not yet visible on X-rays) when there are objective signs of inflammation.
