Nateglinide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Maqui interacts with.

Theoretically, maqui fruit extract may increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that maqui berry reduces fasting blood glucose. However, maqui berry extract taken orally, either as a single dose or daily for 3 months, does not decrease fasting blood glucose in prediabetic patients. It is unknown whether it might reduce blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Here's the simple version for Maqui and your Starlix (nateglinide). Nateglinide works by nudging your pancreas to release a quick burst of insulin around mealtime, which lowers your blood sugar. Maqui berry may also have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect, so the worry on paper is that stacking the two could push your sugar a little too low. That's called hypoglycemia, and it can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling foggy.

The good news is this is rated a minor, mostly theoretical concern. In fact, human studies in prediabetic people didn't show maqui lowering fasting blood sugar at all. Eating the berry as food is unlikely to matter; a concentrated supplement is the bigger question mark. If you do want to try it, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

Nateglinide tablets are used to help improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is always used together with diet and exercise — not as a replacement for them.

Nateglinide is not for type 1 diabetes, and it is not used to treat diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the blood becomes dangerously acidic).
