Here's the gist with marshmallow and your Diclegis or Bonjesta (doxylamine plus vitamin B6). Marshmallow root is full of a slippery fiber called mucilage that forms a gel in your gut. In theory, that gel could coat the stomach and slow down how well your pill is absorbed. If that happened, you might get a bit less relief from your nausea and vomiting than usual.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how the fiber behaves, not something well documented in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. To stay on the safe side, simply take your medication first and wait about 30 to 60 minutes before having marshmallow. If you have questions, your pharmacist is happy to help.

What Is Doxylamine and Pyridoxine Used For?

Brand names: Diclegis, Bonjesta

Doxylamine and pyridoxine is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy in women who do not respond to conservative management. This applies to the delayed-release tablets (including Diclegis and the generic doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride delayed-release tablets) as well as to Bonjesta, the extended-release tablet formulation.

None of these products have been studied in women with hyperemesis gravidarum (severe, persistent vomiting in pregnancy), so their use in that setting is not established.
