Here's the gist for your inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso). This medicine works by relaxing and opening up blood vessels, which can lower blood pressure as part of how it helps your lungs. Nattokinase, in some small studies, may also nudge blood pressure down a bit. Put the two together and, in theory, your blood pressure could dip a little more than expected.

What might that feel like? Things like dizziness, lightheadedness (especially standing up), or feeling more tired or flushed. I want to be honest, though: this concern is theoretical, based on how each one acts rather than solid studies of the pair. There's also a bleeding angle, since nattokinase may thin the blood a touch. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and don't change your treprostinil on your own.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso). Besides relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, this medicine also works as a mild platelet inhibitor, meaning it makes it a little harder for your blood to clot. Nattokinase does something similar in its own way, since it helps break down fibrin, a building block of clots. Stack the two together and you may nudge your bleeding risk higher than either one alone.

What might that look like? Easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or in rare cases something more serious. Honestly, the evidence here is thin (mostly lab studies plus one case report of a serious bleed when nattokinase was added to aspirin), so I don't want to alarm you. Just loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding nattokinase.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
