Aspirin, Oxycodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Onion interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs with onion might increase the risk of bleeding.

Percodan combines aspirin with oxycodone, and it's the aspirin part that matters here. Aspirin already thins your blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. In test-tube studies, onion compounds (like quercetin and its sulfur compounds) seem to do something similar. Put them together and, in theory, you could bleed a little more easily. That might show up as easier bruising, a nosebleed that lingers, or a small cut that's slow to stop.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not real patient cases. Onion the way you eat it in food is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated onion supplements are the bigger question mark. If you're using one regularly, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the simple version. Percodan combines aspirin with oxycodone. The concern on file isn't about how either drug is broken down, and onion won't make your pain medicine stronger or weaker. Instead, this is about allergy. In one single case report, a person who already had a mild onion allergy had a worse reaction (swelling and severe hives) after taking aspirin alongside onion.

So if you don't have an onion allergy, this almost certainly doesn't apply to you, and normal onion in food is no worry. If you do react to onion, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before mixing concentrated onion supplements with aspirin-containing products. This is based on one anecdotal report, so it's a gentle caution, not an alarm.
