Theoretically, phellodendron might increase the sedative effects of CNS depressants.
Phellodendron contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine may have sedative effects. Theoretically, phellodendron might also have CNS depressants effects.

Indiplon is a sleep medicine that works by calming the brain, so it already makes you drowsy on purpose. The concern here is simple: phellodendron contains berberine, and in animal studies berberine seemed to have its own calming, sedative effect. Stack that on top of Indiplon and the two could add together.

If that happens, you might feel more drowsy than expected, groggy or foggy the next morning, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet. I'll be honest with you though: this is a theoretical worry based on lab and animal data, not strong human proof. Still, since both touch the brain, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Please don't start or stop anything on your own.
