Policosanol is a mix of waxy alcohols (mostly octacosanol) made from sugar cane or other plant waxes, and it is often marketed as a natural way to lower cholesterol. What Is Desloratadine Used For?

Brand name: Clarinex

Desloratadine treats nasal and non-nasal symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis (year-round allergies). It also provides symptomatic relief for chronic idiopathic urticaria — ongoing hives with no identified cause — reducing itching, the number of hives, and their size.

Age eligibility varies by product. Desloratadine tablets (including Clarinex tablets) are approved for patients 12 years and older. Desloratadine orally disintegrating tablets are approved for patients 6 years and older for allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Desloratadine Oral Solution is approved for the youngest patients — down to 6 months of age for perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria, and down to 2 years for seasonal allergic rhinitis.
