Why this applies to Piroxicam

Piroxicam falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Policosanol interacts with.

Theoretically, taking policosanol with other antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
Some clinical research shows that taking policosanol 10-50 mg daily for 7-15 days can inhibit platelet aggregation in healthy patients. Although, one clinical trial shows that taking policosanol 10 mg twice daily for 2 weeks prior to warfarin dosing does not affect warfarin pharmacokinetics or warfarin response. Furthermore, a study in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with a drug-eluting stent found that taking policosanol 40 mg plus clopidogrel and aspirin daily for 30 days modestly reduced the risk for minor bleeding events when compared with taking clopidogrel and aspirin alone. Until more is known, use with caution.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with piroxicam: it's an NSAID, and NSAIDs already have a known tendency to thin the blood a little and irritate the stomach lining. Policosanol may also make your platelets (the cells that help form clots) a bit less sticky. So the worry is that stacking the two together could add up and raise your odds of bruising easily, nosebleeds, or stomach bleeding.

I'll be honest, the evidence here is on the lighter side and mostly theoretical, so I don't want you to panic. One study even found policosanol slightly lowered minor bleeding with other blood thinners. Still, since piroxicam carries its own bleeding risk, it's smart to check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and watch for unusual bruising or dark stools.

Policosanol is a mix of waxy alcohols (mostly octacosanol) made from sugar cane or other plant waxes, and it is often marketed as a natural way to lower cholesterol.
