CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Codeine Phosphate, Pseudoephedrine
Codeine Phosphate, Pseudoephedrine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Poria Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combo product pairs codeine (an opioid cough suppressant and pain reliever) with pseudoephedrine (a decongestant). The piece that matters here is the codeine, since it can make you drowsy. Lab and animal work hints that Poria mushroom may have its own mild calming, sedative effect. So in theory, taking the two together could stack that drowsiness, leaving you more sleepy, foggy, or lightheaded than codeine alone would.
That said, this is only a theoretical concern. It comes from animal studies and has not actually been shown in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you notice extra grogginess, or if you take other things that slow you down, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Codeine Phosphate, Pseudoephedrine page
“Alcohol is the clearest danger here. Beer and wine both carry a major rating with codeine phosphate and pseudoephedrine (Nucofed, Kg Fed), because alcohol deepens the sedation the codeine half already causes, and that effect is well documented in people.”

Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid.
