Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Triazolam (Halcion) is a benzodiazepine that calms brain activity to help you fall asleep, so its main effects are drowsiness, relaxation, and sometimes next-morning grogginess. Poria mushroom has shown mild sedative or calming effects in animal studies, so the concern is simply additive: two things that slow the brain down, taken together, might add up.

If they stack, you could feel more sleepy, dizzy, or foggy than expected, with shakier balance. That said, this interaction has not been seen in people and rests only on lab and animal data, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both touch the same system, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your Triazolam on your own.

  • Fluid retention and swelling
  • Digestive complaints
  • Sleep and calming support
  • General wellness and immune support
  • Urinary support

Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid. Modern scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. It is generally considered well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
