ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Trihexyphenidyl
Trihexyphenidyl falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Poria Mushroom interacts with.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Trihexyphenidyl works by blocking acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in your nerves, which is how it eases tremors and stiffness in Parkinson's and helps with medication-related movement problems. Poria mushroom, at least in animal studies, may do a little of the opposite by letting more acetylcholine hang around. In theory, that could nudge your medication to work slightly less well, so you might notice a bit more tremor or muscle stiffness creeping back.
The honest part: this is only a theory from animal research and has never been shown in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you take both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on whether your symptoms stay well controlled. Please don't stop or change anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Trihexyphenidyl page
“Trihexyphenidyl (Artane) calms the tremor of Parkinson's disease and the muscle stiffness some antipsychotic drugs cause, and this is a list worth reading closely, since three of its 46 flagged ingredients carry a major rating. Two of those are herbs with the same atropine-like chemistry as the drug itself, piling on dry mouth, blurred…”

What is Poria Mushroom?
- Fluid retention and swelling
- Digestive complaints
- Sleep and calming support

- Urinary support
Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid. Modern scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. It is generally considered well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
