Temazepam (Restoril) already works by calming down activity in your brain to help you sleep. The concern here is simple: poria mushroom may add to that sedating effect. In animal studies, poria showed mild calming properties of its own, so stacking it on top of a sleep medication could, in theory, leave you feeling extra groggy, dizzy, unsteady on your feet, or more sleepy than usual the next morning.

I want to be honest, though: this interaction is theoretical. It is based on lab and animal research and has not actually been shown in people. Food or tea amounts are unlikely to matter much, but concentrated extracts could. If you take both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first and watch for unusual drowsiness.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

This medication is intended for short periods only. If sleep trouble doesn't improve within 7 to 10 days, that may signal an underlying medical or psychiatric condition that needs its own evaluation.
