Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Phenacemide
Phenacemide falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Poria Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Phenacemide (Phenurone) is an older seizure medicine that can already slow you down, causing drowsiness, dizziness, or trouble concentrating. Here's the thing to know: in animal studies, Poria mushroom showed mild calming, sedative-like effects. So if you pair the two, the worry is simply that the sleepiness could stack up, leaving you more groggy or unsteady than usual.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is a theoretical concern drawn from animal research and how these things work in the body. It has not actually been shown to happen in people. Still, since Phenacemide is a potent drug with serious side effects on its own, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Poria, rather than starting it on your own.

About Poria Mushroom
What is Poria Mushroom?
- Fluid retention and swelling
- Digestive complaints
- Sleep and calming support
- General wellness and immune support
- Urinary support
Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid. Modern scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. It is generally considered well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
