Proline + Hydrochlorothiazide
Hydrochlorothiazide brand names: Esidrix, Hydro, Microzide, HydroDiuril, Hydro-D, and others.
We found no known interaction between Proline and Hydrochlorothiazide in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Proline and Hydrochlorothiazide
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Hydrochlorothiazide and Proline in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Proline at all — not against Hydrochlorothiazide, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Questions About Proline or Hydrochlorothiazide
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Proline or Hydrochlorothiazide, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:
- Is It Safe To Take Ramipril With Apple Cider Vinegar? ›
- Can You Take Bumex And Lasix Together? ›
- Switching From HCTZ To Chlorthalidone Due To Side Effects Of Hair Loss And Dry Mouth ›

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Hydrochlorothiazide
This page covers Proline only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Hydrochlorothiazide page lists 230 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), American Hellebore (major), American Mistletoe (major), Asarabacca (major) and Dolomite (major).
By severity: 10 major · 195 moderate · 25 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Hydrochlorothiazide page
“Hydrochlorothiazide sits at the strong end of the caution scale for supplement interactions, and the small group of major-rated entries deserves a careful read before everything else on the page. Most of what appears here either adds to the pill's blood-pressure-lowering effect or piles onto its diuretic action, pushing fluid and potas…”

Where Proline and Hydrochlorothiazide Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.

Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Proline reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 20, 2026. The Proline and Hydrochlorothiazide records this page draws on were last updated June 22, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Proline
What is Proline?
- Joint and connective tissue support
- Skin health and wound healing
- Collagen production
- Athletic recovery
- General amino acid supplementation
Proline is a non-essential amino acid that your body can make on its own and that you also get from protein-rich foods. It is a key building block of collagen, but strong human evidence that taking proline supplements improves skin, joints, or healing is limited. For most healthy people a balanced diet supplies plenty, so talk to your pharmacist or doctor before adding a supplement.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Proline is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Proline record says about it on its own.
Proline: dosing
There is no well-established standard dose of proline as a supplement. Amounts vary widely between products, and proline is often combined with other amino acids or collagen rather than taken alone. If you choose to use a proline-containing product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Hydrochlorothiazide
What Is Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?
Brand names: Esidrix, Hydro, Microzide, HydroDiuril, Hydro-D, Oretic, Aquazide H, Aquazide, HCTZ
Hydrochlorothiazide treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. The capsule form is indicated specifically for hypertension management.
It also treats edema (fluid buildup) associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney diseases including nephrotic syndrome. The tablet form is additionally indicated for edema caused by corticosteroid and estrogen therapy, as well as conditions such as acute glomerulonephritis and chronic renal failure. Inzirqo (the oral suspension) is indicated for both hypertension and edema in adult and pediatric patients.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Hydrochlorothiazide
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (209,395 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.

Hydrochlorothiazide Is Linked to Lower Levels of 8 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Hydrochlorothiazide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Proline — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
