Ketorolac Tromethamine falls under ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 3 (OAT3) SUBSTRATES — the group Quercetin interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the effects and adverse effects of OAT3 substrates.

In vitro research shows that quercetin is a strong non-competitive inhibitor of OAT3, with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values as low as 0.75 mcM. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with quercetin and ketorolac (Toradol). Your kidneys use a little 'doorway' called OAT3 to help clear ketorolac out of your body. In lab and test-tube studies, quercetin seems to block that doorway. If it does the same thing in people, ketorolac could leave your system more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger drug effects and a higher chance of side effects like stomach upset, ulcers, bleeding, or strain on the kidneys.

I want to be honest, though. This is only theoretical right now, based on lab work, and it hasn't actually been reported in real patients. Everyday food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter. If you're taking concentrated quercetin pills, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

If the same thing happened in people, ketorolac could leave your system more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger effects and a higher chance of its usual side effects, like stomach upset or irritation, a risk of bleeding or ulcers, and added strain on the kidneys.

The honest part: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube data, and it has not been seen in real patients. Ketorolac is also a short-term, fairly potent pain reliever. If you take quercetin supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

What Is Ketorolac Used For?

Brand names: Toradol, Acuvail

Ketorolac is used for short-term management of moderately severe acute pain — the kind that would otherwise require an opioid-level painkiller. It is most commonly used in a postoperative (after surgery) setting.

Treatment is always started with an injection (IV or IM), and oral tablets are only used as a follow-up if needed. The total treatment time — shots plus pills combined — must never exceed 5 days. It is not meant for minor aches or long-term pain conditions.
