Drug & supplement interaction

Raspberry Ketone + Everolimus

Everolimus brand names: Certican, Afinitor, Zortress, Afinitor Disperz.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Raspberry Ketone and Everolimus in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Raspberry Ketone and Everolimus

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Everolimus and Raspberry Ketone in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Everolimus

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Everolimus is filed under 7 classifications — including cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) inhibitors, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) inhibitors, p-glycoprotein substrates. Raspberry Ketone has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being stimulant drugs (moderate) and warfarin (coumadin) (moderate) — and none of Everolimus’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Raspberry Ketone and Everolimus May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

Reported for Raspberry Ketone but not commonly for Everolimus: an irregular heartbeat, a fast or pounding heartbeat, tremor or shakiness and sweating.

Effects for Everolimus come from the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of its FDA label; effects for Raspberry Ketone come from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, quoted above. Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 50,590 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Everolimus that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Wording is matched across sources by our own clinical vocabulary, so treat this as a prompt to pay attention, not a diagnosis.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Everolimus page

“Everolimus (Afinitor, Zortress, Certican) has to stay in a narrow blood-level window, whether you take it after an organ transplant or for cancer, so treat this supplement list with real caution. Most of its 156 interacting ingredients can push those levels up or down, mainly by changing how the CYP3A4 enzyme breaks the drug down.”

About Raspberry Ketone

What is Raspberry Ketone?

Raspberry Ketone
  • Weight loss
  • Fat burning
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Appetite support
  • General 'fat-burner' supplement

Raspberry ketone is a natural aroma compound found in red raspberries that is heavily marketed for weight loss, but there is no good human evidence that it helps people lose weight. Most claims come from lab and animal studies using doses far higher than what you could get from food or typical supplements. If you choose to try it, talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.

Fruit-derived aromatic compound (4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-one) · Capsules, tablets, softgels, powders, often combined with other weight-loss ingredients

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Raspberry Ketone is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Raspberry Ketone record says about it on its own.

Raspberry Ketone: dosing

There is no established or proven effective dose of raspberry ketone for weight loss or any other use. The amounts found in supplements vary widely from product to product. If you decide to try it, follow the directions on the product label and do not take more than recommended. Because supplements are not tightly regulated, the actual amount in a product may differ from what is listed, and quality can vary between brands. Before starting, it is a good idea to review the full ingredient list with your pharmacist, especially since many products contain caffeine or other added stimulants.

About Everolimus

What Is Everolimus Used For?

Brand names: Certican, Afinitor, Zortress, Afinitor Disperz

Everolimus is used to treat several serious conditions. In cancer, it is prescribed for advanced hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer (in postmenopausal women), certain neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas, GI tract, or lung, and advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) when other treatments have stopped working.

It is also used for people with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) — a genetic condition that causes benign tumors to grow throughout the body. In TSC, it treats kidney tumors called angiomyolipomas, brain tumors called SEGA, and seizures. In kidney transplant patients, it helps prevent the body from rejecting the new organ.
