Raspberry Ketone + Griseofulvin

Griseofulvin brand names: Fulvicin PG, Fulvicin-U/F, Grisactin Ultra, Grisactin.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Raspberry Ketone and Griseofulvin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Raspberry Ketone and Griseofulvin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Griseofulvin and Raspberry Ketone in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Griseofulvin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Griseofulvin is filed under 5 classifications — including antifungals, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) inducers, photosensitizing drugs. Raspberry Ketone has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being stimulant drugs (moderate) and warfarin (coumadin) (moderate) — and none of Griseofulvin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Raspberry Ketone and Griseofulvin May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

“If you take griseofulvin for a fungal infection of the skin, scalp, or nails, give this list of 61 ingredients real attention. The single major entry is activated charcoal, which binds the drug in your gut so less of it reaches your blood and the infection gets less treatment.”

About Raspberry Ketone

What is Raspberry Ketone?

Raspberry Ketone
  • Weight loss
  • Fat burning
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Appetite support
  • General 'fat-burner' supplement

Raspberry ketone is a natural aroma compound found in red raspberries that is heavily marketed for weight loss, but there is no good human evidence that it helps people lose weight. Most claims come from lab and animal studies using doses far higher than what you could get from food or typical supplements. If you choose to try it, talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.

Fruit-derived aromatic compound (4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-one) · Capsules, tablets, softgels, powders, often combined with other weight-loss ingredients

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Raspberry Ketone is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Raspberry Ketone record says about it on its own.

Raspberry Ketone: dosing

There is no established or proven effective dose of raspberry ketone for weight loss or any other use. The amounts found in supplements vary widely from product to product. If you decide to try it, follow the directions on the product label and do not take more than recommended. Because supplements are not tightly regulated, the actual amount in a product may differ from what is listed, and quality can vary between brands. Before starting, it is a good idea to review the full ingredient list with your pharmacist, especially since many products contain caffeine or other added stimulants.

About Griseofulvin

What Is Griseofulvin Used For?

Brand names: Fulvicin PG, Fulvicin-U/F, Grisactin Ultra, Grisactin

Griseofulvin treats dermatophyte (ringworm-type) fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails that haven't cleared up with topical (cream or ointment) treatment alone. It is used for tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea barbae (ringworm of the beard area), tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp), and tinea unguium (fungal nail infection).

It only works against specific dermatophyte fungi. Griseofulvin does not treat bacterial infections, yeast infections (candidiasis), or other fungal infections such as histoplasmosis, sporotrichosis, or tinea versicolor. A lab test or fungal culture should confirm the infection before treatment starts.
