Resveratrol + Tamoxifen Citrate
Tamoxifen Citrate brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox.
Resveratrol has a moderate interaction with Tamoxifen Citrate. Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Tamoxifen Citrate
Tamoxifen Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Resveratrol interacts with.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something interesting about tamoxifen: your body has to activate it before it can fight breast cancer. Liver enzymes (mainly CYP2D6, with some help from CYP3A4) convert it into its more powerful form, called endoxifen. So tamoxifen acts a bit like a prodrug, meaning it depends on those enzymes to do its job well.
In lab dishes, resveratrol can block the CYP3A4 enzyme. In theory, slowing that pathway could nudge how much active drug you make. But the real-world picture is reassuring: a human study using a hefty 3,000 mg of resveratrol daily for 8 weeks did not call for any dose changes to CYP3A4 medicines. The evidence here is weak and mostly theoretical, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, because tamoxifen treatment matters so much, run any resveratrol supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Resveratrol
What is Resveratrol?
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Antioxidant support
- Anti-aging
- Blood sugar and metabolic support
- General anti-inflammatory support
Resveratrol is a plant compound found in red grapes, berries, and peanuts that is popular for heart health, anti-aging, and antioxidant support. While lab and animal studies are promising, strong human evidence for most uses is still limited. It appears generally well tolerated in supplement doses, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
About Tamoxifen
What Is Tamoxifen Used For?
Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox
Tamoxifen is used to treat metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer that has spread) in both women and men, and as adjuvant (after-surgery) therapy for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.
In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) — a very early, non-invasive form of breast cancer — tamoxifen is used after breast surgery and radiation to reduce the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Soltamox (oral solution) is specifically indicated for all of these uses in adult patients.
