Furosemide, Potassium falls under NEPHROTOXIC DRUGS — the group Rhubarb interacts with.
The anthraquinone constituents of rhubarb have been shown to induce nephrotoxicity in animal research. Additionally, in a case report, a 23-year old female presented with kidney failure after taking 6 tablets of a proprietary slimming agent (found to contain the anthraquinones emodin and aloe-emodin from rhubarb) daily for 6 weeks and then adding diclofenac 25 mg 4 times daily for 2 days. The authors postulate that the anthraquinone constituents of rhubarb contributed to the renal dysfunction, and the addition of diclofenac, a nephrotoxic drug, led to renal failure. Until more is known, advise patients to avoid taking rhubarb if they are taking other potentially nephrotoxic drugs.

Here's the gist with rhubarb root and your furosemide with potassium (Lasikal, Diumide-K). Rhubarb root contains compounds called anthraquinones, and in animal studies and one human case report these were linked to kidney stress. Furosemide is a strong water pill that already makes your kidneys work hard, especially if you become dehydrated. The worry is that pairing the two over time might add a little extra strain on the kidneys.
I want to be honest: this is mostly theoretical and based on lab, animal, and a single case report, so don't panic. Occasional rhubarb in a pie isn't the concern here, concentrated root supplements are. Since the anthraquinones are also laxatives, they can worsen fluid and potassium loss too. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using rhubarb supplements alongside this medication.

Rhubarb has stimulant laxative effects. Overuse of rhubarb might cause potassium depletion and compound diuretic-induced potassium loss.

Here's the gist with this combo. Your medicine pairs furosemide (a strong 'water pill') with added potassium, because furosemide makes you pee out extra potassium. The whole point of the potassium piece is to help keep your levels from dropping too low. Now, rhubarb root taken as a concentrated laxative supplement can also flush potassium out through your gut. So in theory, regular high doses of rhubarb could work against that protection and pull your potassium down even further.
Low potassium can leave you feeling tired, crampy, weak, or give you an irregular heartbeat. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not strong proof. Eating rhubarb stalks in a pie is very unlikely to matter. Before using rhubarb supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor.
