Felbamate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Saigon Cinnamon interacts with.

Theoretically, Saigon cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
Saigon cinnamon contains coumarin. Coumarin has caused hepatotoxicity in animal models. In otherwise healthy humans, very high doses of coumarin, from 50-7000 mg daily, can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.

Here's the concern with pairing Saigon cinnamon and felbamate. Felbamate already carries a known risk of liver injury, which is why your doctor monitors liver tests while you take it. Saigon cinnamon is a cassia-type cinnamon, and it's naturally high in a compound called coumarin. In high supplement doses, coumarin has been linked to liver stress, especially in people who are already vulnerable.

So the worry here isn't that one changes how the other is broken down. It's that two things that can each be hard on the liver may add up. This is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not proven harm. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is unlikely to matter, but concentrated capsules are a different story. Watch for yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist before starting any cinnamon supplement.

Saigon cinnamon is a flavorful spice from a Cinnamomum tree grown mainly in Vietnam, and it is a type of 'cassia' cinnamon. About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
