Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Same interacts with.

Taking SAMe with serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects.
SAMe has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with SAMe might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. In one case report, SAMe 100 mg intramuscularly was given daily with clomipramine (Anafranil) 25 mg per day. When the clomipramine dose was increased to 75 mg per day the patient experienced serotonin syndrome about 48-72 hours later, requiring hospitalization.

Auvelity combines dextromethorphan and bupropion, and the dextromethorphan part raises serotonin activity in your brain. SAM-e nudges serotonin in the same direction. When you stack two things that both push serotonin up, you slightly raise the odds of serotonin syndrome. Warning signs include agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, tremor, or feeling overheated and confused. That said, the evidence here is thin, mostly a single case report with a different drug, so this is more of a theoretical caution than a sure thing.

Please don't change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding SAM-e so they can keep an eye on you and confirm it's reasonable for your situation.
