Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Amesec is an older combination product, and the part that matters here is the amobarbital, which is a barbiturate sedative. Sceletium (kanna) appears to have mild calming, sedative-like effects of its own. When you stack a sedative supplement on top of a sedative medicine, those effects can add together. You might feel more drowsy, foggy, or unsteady than you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how each one behaves in the body rather than on solid human studies, so it isn't a sure thing. Still, since this drug also contains ephedrine and theophylline (a stimulant and a heart/airway drug), it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than guessing.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aminophylline, Amobarbital, Ephedrine page

“Amesec is an unusual mix, a sedative barbiturate (amobarbital) plus the stimulant ephedrine and the asthma drug aminophylline, so its interaction list pulls hard in both directions and deserves real care, with 21 of the 151 ingredients rated major. The most everyday hazard is caffeine.”
