CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, Naproxen Sodium
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, Naproxen Sodium falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Sceletium interacts with.
Some evidence suggests that sceletium has sedative properties.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with Aleve PM. That little 'PM' comes from diphenhydramine, the same sleep-causing antihistamine in Benadryl, paired with the pain reliever naproxen. Diphenhydramine already makes a lot of people drowsy and foggy on its own.
Sceletium (kanna) may have mild sedating effects of its own, so taking the two together could add up to extra drowsiness, grogginess the next morning, dizziness, or trouble concentrating. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on how the plant seems to act in lab research, not on solid human studies. Still, I'd play it safe, avoid driving until you know how you feel, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
