Thirteen of the 378 ingredients on file rate major, and the two largest themes track the pill's two halves. More than 200 ingredients can add to naproxen's effect on bleeding, and nearly 80, alcohol and kava among them, deepen diphenhydramine's drowsiness, in a few cases enough to depress breathing.
Smaller clusters matter too. Around 30 ingredients pile onto diphenhydramine's drying, anticholinergic side effects (blurred vision, constipation, confusion), a handful can stress the kidneys naproxen already works, and activated charcoal can soak up the medicine before your body absorbs it. The 320 moderate and 45 minor entries can mostly wait. Alcohol cannot, since beer and wine sit among the majors, and a nightcap with this pill is not the small thing it seems.
