Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combination: your medication contains phenobarbital, which is a barbiturate that already calms the nervous system down. Skullcap is thought to gently nudge the same calming brain chemical (GABA) in that same sedating direction. So when you stack the two, the worry is an additive effect, meaning more drowsiness, grogginess, slowed thinking, or feeling unsteady on your feet than you'd expect from the phenobarbital alone.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This concern comes mostly from lab and animal research, so it's more theoretical than proven in people. Still, since phenobarbital is already strong, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding skullcap, especially if you drive or notice extra sleepiness.
