Enoxaparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sorrel interacts with.

Theoretically, sorrel might cause additive effects and side effects when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, sorrel has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Enoxaparin (Lovenox) is a blood thinner you inject to keep clots from forming. Sorrel is a tangy leafy herb, and in a lab dish some of its compounds slowed platelets (the cells that help blood clump together). The thinking is that pairing the two could add up to slightly thinner blood than expected, which in theory might raise your chance of bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or harder-to-stop bleeding from a cut.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is only test-tube data, and it has not been seen in people. Sorrel as a food in your soup or salad is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated sorrel supplements are the bigger question mark. Since enoxaparin already affects bleeding, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up before adding a sorrel supplement.

About Enoxaparin Injection

What Is Enoxaparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Lovenox

Enoxaparin injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots in the legs — in people having abdominal surgery, hip replacement surgery, or knee replacement surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to treat acute DVT, with or without a pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs), both in the hospital and at home.

It is also used alongside aspirin to reduce dangerous complications of unstable angina and non-Q-wave heart attack, and to treat acute STEMI (a severe type of heart attack involving full blockage of a coronary artery) in patients who receive clot-dissolving therapy or undergo a procedure to open the blocked artery (PCI).
